Since I posted this blog I have found one story relating to this tragedy. The link is posted at the end of this blog. I have also learned the reason why raptors are affected the most. It is explained in the link as well. Check the Decorah Eagles Facebook Page for more information since the story broke on March 3rd, 2015.

PLEASE HELP by sharing this story to friends, family, employers. Be the one that helps this make this ‘National News ‘. ABC World News Tonight covered a story March 5th, 2015 about two dedicated Bald Eagles protecting the nest in spite of the heavy snowfall. Let’s help the following story about D4 being electrocuted on March 2nd, 2015 make National News too. Thank you in advance. ~Marilyn

And the story begins with…

My day started just like any other day.  When it came to checking my Facebook News Feed, this is one of the stories I came upon…

What’s your reaction? Mine is ‘Sad’ followed by feeling ‘Angry’. Why? Because not too long ago I read a similar story about a  Decorah Eagle of the Raptor Resource Project being electrocuted with the same set of circumstances. This eaglet’s death also made me feel ‘sad’ followed by ‘anger’.

What’s Different?

Today I am going to do something about it! I am here to ‘Raise Awareness’ about this common incident that happens more often than most.

As an ‘American Citizen’ I asked myself, “What part can I do to stand up for our ‘national’ bird and get this problem changed?” The answer was simple. I would use my blog as a ‘Platform’ to write about this story.

Why?

I am hoping as a ‘baby boomer’ my ‘novice quality blog’  gets picked up by one of the larger ones who has a large following. Sure it would be great to get the attention personally, but that is not the reason.

Many of us read about things going on around us and do nothing about it. It is the ‘How can little old me help?’ Surely my voice won’t count. So we scroll on to the next post on Facebook.

Circumstances Next…

I suspect bringing this common occurrence to the spotlight will not win me any friends in the utility companies. Guess what? I DON’T CARE.

WHY? May You Ask Again?

I found this note. It states…

Four hatched in 2014 and was fitted with a transmitter after Bob Anderson captured her following a phone call from police about an eagle in the middle of the road.

Established in 1988, the non-profit Raptor Resource Project specializes in the preservation of birds of prey.

Today’s Technology has allow us as people from all over the world to have the opportunity to see the ‘Circle Of Life’ captured on a video feed located in Decorah, Iowa. The sensation of viewing the ‘Mom’ and ‘Dad’ Eagles as ‘Partners’ working together to protect the eggs that lay in the nest is quite impressive. We as human beings can learn many things from this ‘Majestic Bird’.

And Finally

The following is a photo that says it all…

Click on this link http://www.aplic.org/APPs.php Take action in helping to get this problem solved. We owe it to our national bird ‘American Bald Eagle’ . STOP  ‘American Bald Eagle’ from being ‘electrocuted’.

As more and more trees are being rooted up in exchange for ‘farmland’ to feed the world, ‘American Bald Eagles’ will have no other choice than to find another source to perch from. One of their choices will be ‘Utility Poles’. Let’s do what we can to make sure these poles are safe and free of possible electrocution  that these magnificent birds do not deserve.

And One Other Thing…

Please ‘LIKE’  Facebook Page:  Raptor Resource Project and others in your area. While you are at it, give Bob Anderson some LOVE and jot a note to let him know what a great job he is doing at protecting our national bird the American Bald Eagle.
