Could Busyness Be The Reason For Your Paper Clutter?

Posted on Posted in Paper Clutter, Simplified Flylady

As a kid, I used to like to play the game, ‘Secretary’ where I loved having piles of paper on my desk. At the time it made me feel important. Of course all I did in the game was move the piece of paper from one side of my make shift desk to the other side never really looking at it.

This is where I developed the bad habit of:

Busyness

It started rather innocently. Today I would like nothing better than to get rid of this habit. What do I do I do instead? I find myself moving the piece of paper from one side of my desk to another.

Most say to deal with the newest incoming mail first. And that is where my problem lies. What is it about it that I don’t like opening up my mail that I end up with this huge pile of paperwork in a month’s time?

Bills & Medicare

I am on Disability for Fibromyalgia and Arthritis.  I WISH I could work full time. But no one will hire me because I can only work for about 30 minutes and then I have to break for 15. This is where the bills pile up. I don’t get enough each month to pay all of my bills.

I would like to point out that this money I get from the government is what I have paid into. Many think it is a government handout. It is not. I get a disability check based on the income I was making at the time of my disability. This was back in 2002 and the monthly check worked. Today with inflation it no longer does.

For some reason Medicare can’t seem to say everything they want to say on one piece of paper. And all letters from them look the same so each has to be opened up. I used to file it away, thus all the paperwork. Today it gets recycled but not before it seems to create a big pile.

In October 2012 I did a major Paper Declutter and wrote about it for 31 days. Because of my technically challenged skills I haven’t been able to get those blogs moved over to here. The following photo is what I did get rid of and it was very freeing.

If you would like to know how I stayed with this for 31 days, I will have to redirect you to another blog of mine. I will give you the link to follow there.
