Cleaning Your Fridge

“The refrigerator is one of the hardest working appliances in your home — and one that often takes a beating. It’s subject to spills, varied odors, and overcrowding, and it’s the one appliance that never gets a rest. A clean refrigerator promises to keep food fresher, so do your best to maintain the cleanliness of this kitchen workhorse.” -Martha Stewart

End of the month is always a great time for myself to clean the inside of my fridge. To me, it is all about preparing for the coming month.

Wednesdays I usually clean out spoiled food and wipe the shelves down one shelf at a time. I call it a ‘Refrigerator Boogie’. It also has other benefits.

  1. A great time to take inventory of items on hand before the weekly grocery shopping trip.
  2. Prepares the fridge for the food one purchases.
  3. Makes dinner preparation easier.

However, the end of the month is when I have the least amount of food in it and I take advantage of removing what is in there and mixing a solution of baking soda and water to give it a good wipe down.

I always have my running grocery list nearby to jot things down as I think of them during this time.

After. Nice and clean!

Now, the only thing I have to wait for is ‘Pay Day!’
