In A Holding Pattern For Spring

Posted on Posted in Garden, Habits, Home, spring, Uncategorized

What can I write about this week in gardening?  Spring 2014 is being stubborn!  Yes, I know, it isn’t going according to Marilyn’s Way Gardening.  In fact we are looking at a possible frost tonight with temperatures bottoming out in the thirties.  Trees have begun to bud and hope it doesn’t do any damage.

As fate would have it, I brought my blazer in for repairs yesterday.  They couldn’t get to it and that directed me and my mom heading to my home in Garden City about 35 miles away to pick up Lily and Fred my Dachshund and Maltese.  We were going to have a sleepover at Mom’s.

I had to do the local news for the local newspaper so that meant I needed to bring my laptop along.  While I am at it I might as well bring the camera.

Spending the night isn’t an easy thing.  It seems there are so many things I have to take for just one night.  It always seems to be everything but the kitchen sink.  Actually it is the computer, camera, bi pap machine and a change of clothes and all that goes with that. Today I am so happy that I have a set of habits that makes it easy to pick up my stuff and go somewhere.  It doesn’t mean that I have to like it.

This brings me to this moment.  What will I write about for gardening this week?  Then I got it!  Let’s have a tour and check out my mom’s outside gardens for any blooms.  Then I will come in and show you Mom’s violets that are in full bloom,

It is cold and windy outside because of this holding pattern we seem to be in.  It won’t matter for you because I am going to bring her gardens to you from the comfort of your chair indoors.

I am going to grab a cup of coffee and my camera.  I am heading outside.

The  above are the finds outside.  Looks like my coffee cup is empty, so let’s come into the house for the inside plants.  There are violets galore in here!

I hope some day I have as great of a green thumb my mom does.  If I have to be in a ‘Holding Pattern For Spring’ I am happy to enjoy her violets indoors and maybe a game of Skip Bo!  It is so much better than sitting in a waiting room all day waiting for the blazer to get fixed!
