Making Brownies Instead Of Time on Facebook

One of my new years resolutions was to learn how to spend less time on Facebook and still take care of my groups and pages.  I found spending every day on Facebook interacting with my newsfeed, groups, and pages becoming stale.  I lost some of the excitement I had when I first found facebook and could speak to the entire world from a tiny town of 40 people in South Dakota.

I have had so many wonderful experiences since I got involved with Facebook.  Marla Watson Cilley also known as The FlyLady was speaking in Rochester, Minnesota November 2012.  She and her assistant Michele were coming from Brevard, North Carolina and one of their stops was to come to my home to meet the flybaby that took FlyLady’s March Habit in 2011 to heart and challenged herself to ‘Get Dressed To Shoes’ for one year that actually lasted 436 consectutive days posting a photo and writing a mini blog daily on The FlyLady Facebook Page . Today I am still getting dressed to shoes and have my own facebook page Marilyn’s Way and spread the word of Flylady and how I have taken what I have learned and shared with others who happen to have a disability and said you can still FLY.  In fact, you will feel better about yourself when you FLY! I practice Flylady by committing myself to nine habits each day every day that I chose as the bare minimum of taking care of myself and my home and it all started for me ‘Getting Dressed To Shoes.’

I am taking the weekend off from Facebook and limited time on the computer.  I just had to write this blog and tell you how much fun I have had making brownies and feeling those kid like feelings making things fun again.  The hardest part has been waiting for them to bake and now cool.  Instead of getting on Facebook, I wrote this blog.  But before I did this I had to take care of business.  That is washing my bowl and utensils, rinsing, drying and putting them away.  Then take my zippered jacket off to soak as you see just like a kid I was so involved at licking the bowl and the spoon, chocolate landed on my jacket and my face.

If you feel you need a break from Facebook, buy yourself a brownie mix and make yourself a batch of brownies instead and catch some of those kid like feelings again.  Facebook won’t mind!

  1. I totally understand. I've been a little bored with Facebook myself. For me though, it was robbing time from my kids and time I should have been spending with God and his word. I was out of balance. I'm glad to say that I'm getting back on kilter and feel much better with how I'm spending my time. 😀 Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
