Simplify Your Before Bedtime Routine

This blog was written in May of this year.  I was on Day 77.  I forgot I wrote it and is nice to see my top three are still my top three!

I have got to say, I never thought I would make it to Day 77 Getting Dressed To Shoes but here I am.  I made the Before Bedtime Routine as simple as it possibly could be.  This was one routine I struggled with.  Now, it runs pretty smoothly.

Here Is My List For Before Bedtime Routine

  1. I make sure my sink is shined.  Yes this has been another habit that I couldn’t seem to get my head wrapped around as to the importance of it until this year.  I have been flying since 2005.  Without the shiny sink, the rest would fall by the way side.  It happens very easily too.  So, this has got to be the most important habit to keep.
  2. I make my coffee and set it to come on automatically the next morning.  I am already at the sink so it just comes natural.
  3. I go to the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth.  It is a way of telling myself I am washing off what is left of the day and to begin to slumber.
  4. Before I take my clothes off to put on my pajamas, I PICK OUT MY OUTFIT AND HANG IT ON A SPECIFIED HOOK.  I have used jeans, tank top, and denim shirt to be my main uniform for flying.  I know I have at least three outfits I can wear this way and feel good about myself.  Lots of times I make a mental note as to what I will wear in the next two days.
  5. I have a bar stool in my bedroom to sit on as I change.  I haven’t been too good about starting my before bedtime routine early enough.  That is still a work in progress.  So I use the bar stool to get undressed and then I use it again in the morning as I get dressed and put my makeup on.  My bar stool swivels so it really makes things easy.  I deal with Fibromyalgia and that involves pain and tiredness.  This is what I came up with.
  6. I fill my sleep machine with distilled water and take my medication.  I set the sleep timer to my TV for 30 minutes, put on my sleep machine mask, get into bed, and turn out the light.
I know my Before Bedtime Routine needs some work, but I am going for the progress not perfection mode.  This is the routine that has got me to Day 77 Dressed To Shoes so when morning comes again, my Morning Routine is easy!
Keep Flying!

  2. Hi Marilyn! I love your routine! Just reading it made me relaxed :). By the way, I think it's great how happy and active you are, even though you deal with Fibromyalgia. You might be tired and in pain, but your spirit isn't infected and that's just great! That is so inspiring :). Happy FLYing!
