Today is Saturday, July 13th.  (THIS IS A LONG READ AND HAD TO PUT IT IN BLOG FORM FOR OUR NEW SERIES BUT SO WORTH IT IF YOU REALLY WANT TO KNOW HOW I TICK AND MY FEELINGS ABOUT DANCING TILL YOU FLY! MW.  I WORK A BIT DIFFERENTLY THAN FLYLADY AND YET THE SAME.  ANY OF THESE SYSTEMS ARE REALLY THE SAME.  WHAT MAKES THEM DIFFERENT IS STYLE.  YOU ARE FREE TO PRACTICE FLYLADY AND USE HER TERMS.  YOU ALSO CAN START USING MY DANCE THEME TERMS IF YOU WANT.  I AM NOT SURE IF I WILL PUT THIS EXPLANATION IN EVERYDAY.  WHAT I WILL DO IS START THE THREAD OFF BY THE DATE EACH DAY.)

Tell ‘Lady Declutter Bug’ what flying you did get done and I hope today  there is some FUN things because it is Saturday.  Don’t want to know what you plan to do. This is a place where you write what FLYing you did do no matter if it was just one thing you got done.  This is not a competition.  This is for us to learn to look at the things we accomplish each day.  I have a feeling most of you are short changing yourself.  I ask that you try to do at least one of the 9 habits each day every day.  You start practicing this I just know you will want to do more of them and the KEY to those habits is to GET DRESSED TO SHOES.  I know some of you are against it.  I was for years.  I never go anywhere except to get groceries and meds but it was a great lesson for me to learn this habit.  We are not talking getting all dressed up.  I am talking about a tank top and a pair of elastic waist shorts for the summer.  I just want you out of your pjs.  Why? Because there are PLENTY of comfortable clothes you can wear.  I have fibromyalgia and granted I don’t GDTS the first hour because I  wait for my meds to kick in and I use a tens unit.  Most times I eat my breakfast/brunch in my night gown and then it is time to FLY.  This is my routine.  I make sure I GDTS and while I do that, I swish and swipe as I am in the bathroom already.  Nothing fancy.  I also tie in What’s For Dinner.  Like Kimberly Fisher Kramer (Kimmi) said she calls them her minis and I like that too. Doing those 3 things together isn’t so overwhelming.  What I learned and I have gotten dressed to shoes every day since I started the challenge back in March of 2011.  Wow! I can’t believe it has been that long.  Yes there were days I didn’t want to but once you let go of perfectionism, something magical happens.  If I want to start a load of clothes and do some decluttering which can simply be what I call The Scoop and Cha Cha Cha.  It is the same as pick up put away.  I like my dance theme as it seems to motivate me. Link a load of laundry with your decluttering and I am not talking Deep Decluttering.  I am talking of the things to get your house functioning again. Now I am free to do one of the Weekly Mambos and one of the weekly habits that works best for me that I decide on Mondays as my Doo Woop Errand Day is different each week.  That determines then the day I do the Fridge Cha Cha Cha which is the day before Doo Wop Errand Day and then the day after is Paperwork Cha Cha Cha, Purse Cha Cha Cha, and Car Cha Cha Cha.  After you get these things done you are FREE   to do whatever project you want.  Oh, Did I say I have a FREESTYLE DAY in there?  That is your day to do what you wish.  Maybe a catch up day or maybe just a fun day to do whatever you want.  Having said all of this, it isn’t going to get your home spotless.  That is NOT what Marilyn’s Way is about.  It is about practicing nine habits each day every day to get your home functioning again.  I have monthly events that help you focus on the detail of decluttering that we can do as a group so we can talk about it together and get ideas.  I know FlyLady says she got her home decluttered in around 8 months.  Some of you will be able to do it.  Some like me it took about 3 years to get to the point where I am today and I owe it to FlyLady and her March Habit Getting Dressed To Shoes that I decided to make a challenge for myself.  I really and I don’t think any of you really want to live in your pjs all the time.  Do you really want to drive your child to school in your pjs?  Or what about your dog getting loose and you have to run out in your pjs to get her?  I decided after awhile and there were MANY DAYS I didn’t want to GDTS but eventually I came to believe that I owed it to myself to get dressed and show up for my day and do whatever I could even if all I got done was getting dressed to shoes.  I showed up for my day ready to start practicing my nine habits each day every day.  Heck, just by getting dressed to shoes, I have swished and swiped my bathroom and I know what I am having for dinner.  There are three habits right there!  Declutter while the load of laundry is going.  There is another two habits.  I think you know where I am going with this and how I dance through my habits and routines until I FLY!  This is all in direct proportion as to how much clutter you have.  Do the nine habits each day every day first.  That will get your home to FUNCTION again taking away the feeling of overwhelmedness and THAT is the sole purpose of Marilyn’s Way.  When we become overwhelmed our thinking gets distorted and then it turns into what we aren’t doing.

I DON’T WANT TO HEAR WHAT YOU AREN’T GETTING DONE.  I WANT TO HEAR WHAT YOU ARE GETTING DONE.  I HATE TO BE THE BEARER OF BAD NEWS.  HOUSEWORK IS NEVER COMPLETELY DONE.  JUST DO YOUR BEST EACH DAY AND MIRACLES BEGIN TO HAPPEN!! ~Marilyn~

  1. Reading this made me realize that I should plan dinner while eating breakfast. I usually play a computer game (I never play in the daytime), but it would make sense to get the dinner menu done early in case I need to thaw food or do something that is time-consuming. Thanks!
