Many of us have days that we are outside of the home for doctor appointments, meetings, outings, and such. Then there are days where we just are not feeling up to par. So what do we do on those days? Do we forget about Flylady?
The answer is NO! These are the days we need it the most! We just have to implement a our short version Flylady Routine.
In a perfect world Flylady makes sense and works. She keeps us on track. And she does it Lovingly with her great team.
In an imperfect world, Flylady makes even better sense and really works! That is if we can let go of Procrastination and Perfectionism. Those two will get us in trouble sooner than anything because it leads us to the stinkin thinkin that zaps our energy. Take a moment to let this sink in and think of situations in your life that this fits. Instead of all this mayhem, during one of our Plan and Play days or Paperwork Days, work on developing a short version of Flylady routines.
The most important thing to Flylady is to keep this way of life in motion. So you drop the ball. What do you do? Do you just leave it lay there or do you pick it up and put it back in motion? If you were in a Softball or Baseball Game you have to pick it back up if you want to stay in the game. Same goes for Flylady. That piece of clothing laying on the floor? You are going to have to eventually pick it up so why not now?
My Version of Flylady Routine on Those Hectic Days
Morning Routine
Always, Always Wake Up To A Shiny Sink (Smiling already!)
Get Dressed To Shoes (Not a problem because BBR is the most important routine of the day. Parts of this routine can be done throughout the day)
Swish & Swipe (You have to be in your bathroom anyway. Why not swish & Swipe? Invest in a Rubba Swisha. You won’t regret it. It says Flylady. Make sure your Swisha of whatever you have right now is convenient. I used to have mine on the left side of my toilet. It is a tight corner and would hide from me. Pre Flylady days I probably did want to keep it hidden because I didn’t understand the concept of daily Swish & Swipe. Today I have it on the right side of my toilet with the sink vanity on the right. That is where the action is. Close to the sink in my bathroom. The step I skip is the mirror if there are no water spots on it. I can overlook it on those days. I always swipe my sink and toilet.
This would be the day I don’t do laundry as long as I know I am not going to make a habit of it. The thing is if we are using our planning time, we will understand this
So if we are out and about, most likely when we come home, we will be bringing new things in. Hopefully they are items that we ran out of and already have a space for that. Put it away right away. See, that is what gets us in more trouble. The thing we forget to do is block time for all of the put away items from our outing. You have three outings in a week and don’t do this habit, it becomes a raging hot spot. Mine was the east countertop in my kitchen. Three days of outings and that countertop would be full. What a drain that was. I have a couple of items that don’t belong there right now and when I get up from this computer, it is simply going to be taken care of. I could beat myself up for not doing it perfectly and what does that do? It zaps our energy.
Now there is another way to spin this. My life is about how much energy I am allowed each day and how I am going to use it. (side note)
