Day 27. Do I really want to go on a hunt for a tote that I know has old paper clutter in it and remove as much as possible? Afterall, it is 7:45pm. I first have to ask myself if I have my basics done and I have I started my Before Bedtime Routine. The thing is that I have. I couldn’t wash a load of laundry today as the town had the water turned off due to their annual well cleaning. Yes, this town has well water and it isn’t the best of quality.
Back to my question. I have to realize that there are 5 days left of officially getting the habit of eliminating Paper Clutter each day down. Do I want to start this task? Why is starting the most difficult of any project? That is worth another blog.
I have made my decision. I am going after that tub that has paper clutter in it. My reasoning is that I am pretty positive most of it will be trash and isn’t it great when we can get rid of it and out of our home? So far this month, I know I have enjoyed it. I have also decided that I will commit to at least 15 minutes. After all, “You Can Do Anything For 15 Minutes Except Whine.” In fact this quote was one of the first ones I wrote down when I found Flylady and it got me off my franny. Without further ado, I will go to that tub and open it up. Actually I believe it may just be the last tub of old paper clutter I have and oh wouldn’t it be nice to get through it before the end of the month? I am psyched up now!
To fetch this tub was a chore! Now I am even more determined! I am hoping that 80 % of it will be trash. I am sure most of you have heard of the 80/20 Rule. For example, our clothes hanging in the closet, only 20% is usually worn. The other 80% is special occasions, too big, too small, wrong color and last but not least just a bad clothing purchase decision. Same thing goes with paper clutter.
I am setting my timer for 15 minutes. I am using a way to get through this task by watching the movie “Horrible Bosses.” It makes the process easier for me I have found.
Fifteen minutes later I got a fair amount of paper shredded and other paper thrown away. What a great feeling! I have also decided I can do one more 15 minutes of paper clutter eliminating so off I go to set my timer and just go!
I have 30 minutes into this and I don’t want to quit. It really wasn’t a very good time in my life and I believe I am going to continue to work on eliminating the paper clutter that is no longer needed. I am not sure how much longer it will take. What I will do is update you tomorrow on my blog as I am sure you all are looking for Day 27 and I am going to concentrate at least another 30 minutes. So here are pictures of my progress for today.
This is the tub of paper clutter I was talking about. |
This is the mess it created. I can see why I didn’t want to deal with it. |
Finally got it in the kitchen in my work area. It was not an easy task moving other tubs to get to this one. |
And this is what is in it. I started my timer 15 minutes and then decided to go another 15 minutes before I publish this blog. |
As you can see 30 minutes allowed me to rid myself of half of the paper clutter. |
Here is my work center area I have been at all month. |
These are empty bags after I declutter that I got out of my tub. Some of them will be reused for other things. |
And this is the trash that is going out my door! |
Here is my day of my Greatest Paper Eliminator Game for me. I hope your game is going well for you. I am not going to say this has been fun but is has been rewarding. Why? Because this is one of the things I have been avoiding to do. Now that I understand what it is that I NEED to keep, it has just been a matter of time getting rid of all the backlog that I had kept because I didn’t really take the time to check out what to keep and what not to. Simple as that.
Keep Getting Rid Of Paper Clutter And Keep FLYing!
