Is this happening to you? |
At the rate I am going, I won’t get everything done with this event in 30 days. You see during this event I am also trying to get my blog user friendly for you. The baby boomer has just bumped her head against the computer one too many times. Why am I making this so difficult? All I want is to make it easy for you to go to my Pinterest page and Twitter for now. I have the Facebook one up from when a member designed the blog page. I think it just needs some tweaking. For the life of me I cannot get it figured out. Is it because I am ADD?
Currently, I have 21 tabs opened! It is going against everything I believe. That is keeping things simple and doing the task at hand. My question is, what if you can’t figure it out?
It is probably something simple but my mind cannot process it. I hope it isn’t something like when one goes to do their dishes all they have to do is put the plug in the drain, turn on the water and pour in some soap.
Then again, why can’t it be this simple? I am beginning to believe computer geeks are more left brained people. I am far from it. I would call myself at having a very dominant right brain thinking and through this journey of taking care of myself and my home I have had to train myself with some discipline. Right now they seem to be going out the window. Why? Because I can’t figure out how to put the stupid social media buttons on to pinterest and twitter so you can visit me there if you want.
I’m Asking For Help. Can Anyone Hear Me?
There are so many blogs out there and each are like one thumbprint. There are ones that will provide a service to help you design your blog. Why can’t I find anyone? I am even willing to pay someone so I can get on to doing what I do best and that is living and doing Dance Till You FLY! mw System (c) 2014 that I created, influenced by Flylady along with my experience and education. The only ones I seem to find are the ones that want to charge $1000.00. My blog isn’t that developed to warrant spending that kind of money. So, where are the other ones that would do what you ask for and make sure your blog is set up correctly? Is it as simple as turning on the water, putting soap in to wash your dishes? I would think so.
What about we 50 somethings became adults when the technology revolution began? When I was working I started out selling pagers. Fax machines were all the rage. Text messaging wasn’t catching on. Most wanted cell phones.
So here I am, I haven’t gotten all of my nines done today. That isn’t like me. I know how important they are. Yet I have gotten caught up in the world of trying to get a couple buttons on my blog that will link. Where is the voice in my head that says, “Give it a rest, Marilyn. Do something else?” Wait I think I am hearing it now. I got as far as doing habits 1, 2, 3, and half of 4. It is 5:30 pm. Why didn’t my 2:00 pm warning sign kick in? Oh, it was the buttons. I kept thinking to try it this way and then that way.
What did save me? The phone ringing to break up the trance I was in. Mom called me to talk. We visited for a bit. I want to go back to the computer to try just another way to see if that works but my gut is saying no and instead telling me to finish up my nines. That is what I am going to do. My load of towels are done. What is left is folding them and putting them away. You know! I am actually welcoming it because by doing so, I am guaranteed to feel a sense of accomplishment and then start dinner.
So what about habits 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9? Will I get them done? You betcha! You see none of them really take that long to do. What happens is we get caught up into something else like adding social buttons on. For now, if you want to see my Pinterest boards and see what I say on Twitter click on the words. I have tested them and they work.
Now, I am going to put the plug in the drain, turn on the water and put some dishwashing soap in. I am going to start dinner by putting it in my little toaster oven. While that is baking, I will finish the other half of habit 4 a load of laundry a day by folding it and putting it away. That should take no longer than 15 minutes.
Next I will move on to Habit 5 – Declutter Each Day. It will be in the kitchen and I will focus on the east countertop. I am only going to be able to spend at the most 15 minutes because I have used up too large of a spoon trying to figure out social media buttons. This will allow me to get habits 7, 8, and 9 which at the most will take 30 minutes.
Wow! It looks like I am going to have my ‘Me Time’ later tonight afterall. Now where’s that timer? Looks like I will be setting it for 5- 15ers. Now I feel better. I want to thank my mom for calling me. It snapped me out of my technological trance!

(NOTE: All of this was done in real time. Nothing was staged. When I set out on this journey I was searching for something I could do my way. That is how I best learn with keeping consistency in the front of my mind. I found Flylady in 2005 and have learned so much. What I learned was the importance of habits. From there I created Dance Till You FLY! mw featuring nine habits each day every day. It is a simple plan that also has weekly habits and monthly events. I am sharing it with you all and to not give up. Practicing the nines will get you far. Dance Till You FLY! mw was also created for me living with fibromyalgia and being ADD. It wasn’t until I found Flylady and took her March Habit of Getting Dressed to Shoes and posting a photo with a mini blog daily for 436 consecutive days did I learn the importance of habit. If you want to see the video that Flylady made of me getting dressed to shoes for one year to her song, click on Flybaby Marilyn and that will take you there. While you are there check out Flylady’s videos. She has great ones. Please! Someone rescue me from those social media buttons! I am sure it is simple but this ole brain is suffering from information overload! I guess I will have a piece of chocolate for desert.)
