This was not a shy snake! |
Yesterday I was in the house all day. My neighbor girls helped me move some big items around. Today I was going to go outside no matter what. I didn’t get a chance to water flowers yesterday and that was high on my priority list. Also I wanted to fertilize the tomato plants but first I was going to go through the garden to see what I had that needed to be picked.
I saw the red tomatoes and got them picked. Then I started to check the beans. I am getting a few. Next week is when I will have quite a few. My broccoli was ready to be picked too. Before I did that I wanted to check on my cucumbers.
It has been great to have them on a trellis this year. Actually it is a stockade panel that my brother was always going to get. This was 10 years ago. I figured it is mine now. I was picking cucumbers and I found a couple very big ones so I thought I had better look deeper since I must have missed them. I saw one I was going to pick and just by this cucumber was this small snake wrapped around on the trellis taking a nap! I got my camera and took pictures. He barely budged.
We have a bad snake problem in this town. I went to my neighbors to tell them about it and the 6 year old boy was ready to wrangle it. When we got back there, the snake was no where in sight. We looked and looked. He probably knew what his destiny was going to be so he high tailed out of there. They really don’t bother me in the garden that much because they are eating bugs. I just don’t like the big ones near the house.
I finally got everything picked that I wanted to and will share a picture of my vegetables here. Glad the drama was done for now because it is Wednesday AntiProcrastination Day and my task was to fertilize my tomatoes so that is I did! I love cucumbers and tomatoes together to eat and I am going to have some with a bit of Paul Newman Original Dressing. It is so good!
Until Next Time,
