The day started out like any other one. I did my morning routine, read my notifications, and it was time to go to town. Fred my adopted male maltese that is 9 years old was going for his third installation of officially feeling like he was mine. He had an appointment to go to the groomer at 2pm.
I dropped him off and was headed to Mom’s drop Lily off. You see I was going to get a professional manicure and pedicure for the first time in my 53 years of life! I had no idea what to expect but I knew I was in good hands because I was having Lisa at The Curl Company that has done my hair for years do it.
It was so neat because usually when I am visiting with Lisa it is through the mirror as she is cutting my hair. This time we were face to face and having a fun conversation with her and the gal that works their. But you know the rules. It’s like Vegas. What is said there stays in the beauty shop! It was a great conversation but it stays there!
Everyone that has been following me knows I have been doing lots of gardening and landscaping this summer. You can just imagine the havoc it has placed on my hands and feet. Last year I was so good to always wear gloves. This year not so much. I would go outside to check on something and because of my SHE (Sidetracked Home Executive) personality, I was carrying dirt under my nails and so hard to get cleaned up. Each time I said next time gloves. I do wear gloves 80% of the time. It is just that 20% that creates the havoc like it does in so many areas of our lives.
So why was I having a manicure and pedicure? It is because I am going to my 35th High School Class Reunion! I am rather excited about it because of my disability of Fibromyalgia and Hypothyroidism is under the best control in 15 years, I am looking forward to seeing my high school friends! I owe so much of this to you all for supporting me as I challenged myself what was to be 31 Days in a Row to get Dressed to Shoes, Hair, and Makeup turned out to be a Daily Photo Mini Blog for 436 days! I am taking a break from it because of my passion for gardening and like to pop in to say hi to you all once in awhile.
My Pedicure is done. Now working on my Manicure. |
See the pretty color? I had to buy it I loved it so much! |
During my manicure and pedicure I got a call that Fred was ready to be picked up. I told the gal what I was doing and would be by soon to pick him up. I got there and he looked so handsome! She really did a great job on grooming him. I took him to Mom’s to drop off with Lily as I still had errands to do. Mom had to show Fred off to her neighbor. I had two more errands.
Isn’t He Handsome? |
My next stop was Makepeace Jewelry where I was picking up my watch. They were replacing the battery. I use the timer when the other timer isn’t handy so I tend to burn up batteries. There is a girl I have known since high school. She is a couple years younger than me. I said, “See I just got a manicure and pedicure for my high school reuinion. Isn’t it a pretty color?” She said, “Yes!” Then I got bold and asked, “Can I try one of your diamond rings on? Would be neat with my new manicure.” She said “Sure! She pulled out the prettiest one in town for me to try on. It was beautiful! It made me feel so special! I found a picture of the ring on the internet so you can see how pretty it looks.
Isn’t it beautiful? Relax, I just tried it on! |
Next stop was Shopko. I needed to get a prescription and I have been forgetting to get shaving cream for my legs the last couple trips to town. I know. Write it down. Was just having another SHE moment each of the last trips. I knew I couldn’t go to my high school reunion with hairy legs, which reminds me I had better check for chin hairs and see if my mustache needs attention. Remember it was 35 years ago I was 18 and all I had to worry about was shaving my legs!
I was so lucky to have gotten this shot of my brother! Especially his rookie year at racing and he is 51. |
This is the Collage that Mom says she has a frame so going to hang it up in my home somewhere. |
Lipstick and Eyeshadow the best way to feel special! |
Went back to Mom’s and she had supper going. We had grilled pork and grilled vegetables. Some of the vegetables out of my garden. She also made a cucumber salad from my garden. It was delicious!
I Finally WON!!! |
It was time to head back home after just the greatest day of just doing things! I loaded up Lily and Fred and a way we went! Attitude is so important. I am so glad I found Flylady and then created the Marilyn’s Way groups, page, and blog. All my hard work of creating habits, routines and having great support from all of you wonderful ladies has taught me so much! This isn’t just about cleaning our houses anymore. It is about supporting each other in positive ways so that it allows us to do the cleaning in fun ways because after all, it still needs to be done and why not have fun and support? I think it is a “Terrific Recipe for Success!”
