I am a movie lover and I loved to watch Robin Williams. Many of the movies he has been in I have watched multiple times. I also admit that I haven’t seen all of his like I have of Kevin Costner’s. That said, the most recent encounter I had with Robin Williams was last week when I surfed through my choices of movies to watch for the evening and stumbled upon the movie RV.
I immediately found energy I didn’t have before. Although this film would not win awards, it certainly won my need to watch it again. I love to laugh and it is filled with family rated jokes that do just that.
Robin Williams’ character thought he could actually pull the wool over his family’s eyes by going on a road trip to Colorado verses Hawaii. There was a reason too for the change. Robin Williams character career was being threatened by an up and coming young executive and needed to be there for a presentation.
The journey begins and there are all kinds of problems he and the family endures. They are full of good old fashion laughs about silly things that really happen. Add to the variety of people one would meet along the way, there are sure to be some characters one can relate to. Every town has a know it all kind of person that doesn’t know anything at all and just wings it with outcomes that are not what was intended. There is a scene in the movie with just that.
More importantly, it was the last time I saw Robin Williams when he was alive even if he was coming through my TV from my satellite provider. Robin Williams still had a way to connect with each and everyone of us.
Since his death, the story of his death has been spun so many ways. The fact is that he is dead at 63. None of us know what he was thinking that turned him to the decision he chose. One can only speculate the pain of living was more intense than the pain of dying.
Rather than judge the circumstances, why can’t we all simply grieve for the loss of someone who affected so many of our lives with all his incredible performances? When we can, let us celebrate his life and watch a movie he played in.
I loved the movie The Fischer King where one person’s decision led to an horrific event. The movie evolves from there. Of course there are so many, many more. Robin Williams was never afraid to try out different characters whether it was drama or comedy or something in between.
Aren’t we all more so upset with the split second decision that Robin Williams made? None of us really know how long he had been thinking about it.
Yet Another Tragic Death
There was another death in the media this past week. That is of Kevin Ward Jr race car driver in the dirt track racing world.
This story touched me because my brother and nephew are modified stock car race drivers when they aren’t farming. Ward Jr.’s story has been spun so many different ways as well. For some reason we have this need to dissect something that was no more than a split second decision. Sometimes they are deadly in results and it just happened to be with these two men, one that was well known and the other up and coming.
Rather than continuing to speculate both circumstances, let us all give the families time to grieve for the losses that have been bestowed upon them.
Please note: These are my thoughts on two of these recent tragedies and I wrote this from my heart. Please SHARE if you feel it is worthy to let others know about my piece and that it may comfort others that are affected by these tragedies.
