Defrosting The Upright Freezer

It is a job that yes, I have been procrastinating.  It is a big gigantic frog that I have needed to eat.  Yes, defrosting the Upright Freezer.  I know it has been over a year that I have done this and also one dreading.  By the pictures you can see why.  Maybe it has been more than a year since I have defrosted it.  Could it be three years?  I am afraid to go deep into my subconsciousness to find out exactly when.

You see I got this idea as I was putting away groceries and I was on my way back to the blazer to put my insulated grocery bags in there for the next grocery trip.  Then one of those Aha Moments came!  I have my insulated bags right here and they do hold lots and keep the food cold.  You see I kept thinking I was going to have to get on a ladder to get my ice chest to put everything in it.  That was what kept me from this task.  That is because I would have to move a few things to get the ladder in position to get the chest.  This was a great task that can be said,  “I will do it later.”

From my Daily Photo Mini Blogs you have heard that my washing machine quit and I had to buy a new one.  My sink was leaking and had to get a new one.  I have a water heater that needs to be replaced.  I could say the phrase, “It is always something!” but I am not.  Instead I heard the voice “Do It Now.”

I first cleaned under the freezer and don’t even want to show you that picture.  I got that done and started taking out the food and putting in my black insulated grocery bags.  I had a box too that I put stuff into.  I have some freezer ice packs I could put in there.

To speed the process up, I used a fan and my hair dryer to melt this frost off soon so I can get the job done.  Well, it wasn’t just the ice and frost melting off the coils.  My makeup was melting off of my face and my hair, well you can imagine.  I finally had to get a headband to put on to keep the sweat and make up from running down my face even further.  Now I have a ring around my head from the sweatband!  Put it this way, I am not looking my best!

The job is done and one that needed to be done sooner.  It is done now.  All that is left is to put the food back in and plug it in.  Then will have to clean up the water on my floor.  I guess I could mop it too!  And this is supposed to be “Family Fun Day!”   Oh well, I won’t be forgetting this day.  I am marking it on my calendar and will make this a habit more often if I want to extend the life of my Upright Freezer.

Can you guess what is next on the list of tasks?  It will be cleaning out the dryer vent.  It just isn’t going to be today.  It will be done very soon!  I have to remember “Maintenance is a very important part of FLYing.”

Keep FLYing!
