Don’t You Just LOVE Those ‘AHA’ Moments!

YES!  I just had an ‘aha’ moment!  It has been awhile.  Maybe that is why yesterday I said I was bored.  Don’t get me wrong.  I have plenty to do.  I was just feeling bored.

Today is the second day of Zone 1 which is Entry Way/ Dining Room.  These are also the only two rooms that have outside entrances.  That means they are a challenge to keep unwanted things that haven’t found a home yet managing to find their way here.  I really try to keep it from happening but all it takes is a trip to town to bring back supplies.

I cleaned off the top of the upright freezer and it was filthy dirty.  Living on gravel roads doesn’t help.  There is also a basket that started to be my return items and things to give away.  It was time to declutter it.  I found three items I had been looking for.  If I would have just kept it neat I would have seen them.  Instead it became a combination dumping ground of putting the item there ‘for now’ mentality.

I began to give some serious thought as to what is in my entry way.  I made a decision to take some of the stuff and put in my second bedroom/storage room.  I just had to have a place for it.  So I did some rearranging and got the task done.  You see these are items I do need but I had to think a bit differently.  What are the odds that someone other than myself would be in there compared to the entry way where people come in?  Slim.  Then I realized my ‘aha’ moment!  My stuff that really belonged in the entry way was spilling over into my kitchen on the east countertop!  It makes sense because some of the things on the counter were my reusable shopping bags where they are usually stored in the entryway until I take them out to my vehicle.  There were some other things and one is the junk mail.  If I would have had the top of the cabinet free and clear, I would have gone through the junk mail and thrown in the trash can that is in the entry way.

Taking care of a home can be as simple as having an ‘aha’ moment and acting upon it.  One solution breeds another solution and that is how I look at taking care of my home.  Where things are placed only have to make sense to me.  Why?  Because I am the one that lives here!
