Gardening 15 Minutes At A Time Really Works!

Posted on Posted in Gardening, Uncategorized

Another fun filled day at Marilyn’s Way!  I wrote up my blog on the raised strawberry bed and then went outside to do some planting.  This time it was green beans in the vegetable garden.  I got two packages of beans questioned why I did that.  I soon remembered that I will plant a second batch a little later so I have green beans to eat fresh for a longer period of time.

I came into the house and I saw my great nephew Logan knocking on the door!  He came with my sister in law for a visit.  I showed Logan I bought two new coloring books for him.  Out comes the colors and markers!

I Learned Something New

Logan colored a while until I served him some watermelon.  He loves watermelon!  He stopped coloring and stayed focused on eating the watermelon.  When he was full, he said, “Let’s play Croquet!”  I put the watermelon away and tidied up.  Next was Croquet.

We played 3 games and Logan did great.  I on the other hand not so good.  Logan’s grandma did better than me.

Now that we were done playing, we put the croquet away and it was time to plant some flowers.  I showed Logan how to do it and he picked it up immediately.

Then it was time to go.  I said my good byes and off to the garden I went to plant nasturtiums that I hope will cover my arbor I made out of re-purposed materials.

Then came the neighbor boys.  We had to discuss what it would be like to have a hammock between 2 of my trees.  Once we got that hashed out, here came my brother.  I visited with him for awhile when the next person to drive by and then stop to visit was my nephew.

So what was so new that I learned today?  That I really can garden 15 minutes at a time getting things done, take time to play a game and another moment of time to visit.  When they left I went and did some more gardening for about 15 minutes.  I look back at what I got done today with gardening and I really did do lots by gardening 15 minutes at a time.
