How Will Your Next 10 Days Go?

Time change.  Sometimes I wonder why they just don’t leave it alone.  My friend from Germany said they had their time change last week.  I guess the world is not synchronized.  Of course there are some states that just leave the time change alone.  If you live on the border of these states I really feel for you.  It must be very difficult.

I could quote information about body rhythms and time change but I am not going to.  We already know how difficult it is to form a habit.  Just think of our poor bodies adjusting to just another habit, doing our routines on Standard Daylight Time.

I don’t know about you, but my Weekly Home Blessing Day is running slower than usual.  In fact I believe I even forgot to put up the Weekly Reminder for today.  I will do that now.  There, got it done!

They say it usually takes around 10 days to adjust to the change.  It definitely does for me so I have learned to be kind to myself during this change.  This is one habit we all who participate in changing back to Standard Daylight Time HAVE to do unless you have decided just to show up at events and work an hour earlier until Daylight Savings Time springs ahead the first week in April.  I rather doubt anyone would want to do that.

Now, I want you to think about this in relation to creating new habits.  Whenever I have taken a challenge on a new habit, I am excited about it until around Day 9 or 10.  In fact when I took the challenge upon myself to Get Dressed To Shoes last March for the monthly habit, it was Day 9 and 10 that were very difficult and thought about quitting.  Who would notice?  I would!  My question was how was I going to get to Day 31?  The answer was accountability.  On Day 10 I took my first picture of myself for accountability to myself and to other flysisters.  Most know it led to Daily Photo Mini Blogs for 436 consecutive days.  I still get dressed to shoes and have ever since and was one of the best things I could have done for myself accomplishing this habit.

I just finished up 31 Days of The Greatest Paper Clutter Eliminator Game.  I had to give it a fun name.  And yes, around Day 9 and 10 I was having trouble again but I forged ahead and am so glad I did.  In fact, I have continued extra time on paper clutter this November.  It is my personal choice.

This year maybe I can change my attitude toward the time change.  Usually I have a difficult time and so far it is holding true.  I didn’t get completely finished with my Paper Clutter in October.  I just want all that paper clutter of yesteryear out of my home so that I can deal with today’s incoming paper clutter.  I believe I can accomplish it in 10 days and maybe by focusing on a habit that I have gotten used to putting an extra 15-30 minutes into it, I can distract myself somewhat with what is going on with my body and the time change. I figure it is worth a shot.

So, for the next 10 days I will keep shredding.  When I am done with the shredding is when I will take the remaining paperwork and place where it needs to be.  I have found lots of office supplies. I decided that a percentage of it will be donated.  I don’t need all of it. It is just taking up prime space in my home.

However you decide to deal with changing back to Standard Daylight Time, please be kind to yourself and others.  Be patient too.  If you catch yourself becoming short with family, friends and coworkers, step back and take a deep breath.  Remember they are adjusting to this as well.
Keep FLYing!
Marilyn
