My Bathroom Set up

Write about how I set up my bathroom to make it easy to get in and out.  Example Shower.

So, how am I able to continue to get Dressed To Shoes Hair and Makeup everyday?  One reason, my bathroom!

A few years back, I was very sick and didn’t know what was wrong.  One of my symptoms was dizziness and nausa every time I would bend over.  I got to where I didn’t even want to shower and couldn’t figure out why.  So the next time I took a shower, I counted how many times I needed to bend to pick up and put down facial cleanser, shampoo, conditioner, bath wash, bath sponge, shaving cream and razor.  If you count under arm shaving and each leg, the total came to around 18 times I was bending over to pick up and put down items during my shower.  The bottles also had to land on the edge of my tub.  When I finished I still had to bend over to pick up the towel to dry off.   I was so exhausted by the end of my shower, blow drying and curling my hair along with getting dressed was almost out of the question!  That is until I rested some.  This was so frustrating!  There were days where it took me the entire day to get dressed so then I quit.

Flylady says the average time to get in and out of the shower is 15 minutes.  So I told myself I could do anything for 15 minutes except whine.  Until I could find out what was wrong with me I still had to shower.  Problem was that it wasn’t a positive experience at all for fear of falling.  What to do.

I had to cut down all of the picking up and putting down bottles hoping to land on the side of my bathtub.  I hated it when I would bump one and it fell into the tub.  Then I really had to bend over.

I let this problem of mine work on my subconscious awaiting for a solution.  I wasn’t going to give up.  And I didn’t want to stink from not showering.  I couldn’t spend lots of money either.  I kept that in mind.

So what did I come up with?  Soap Dispensers attached to the wall in the shower!  I started out with one that has 3 dispensers.  One for Shampoo, one for Conditioner, and the other for Body Wash.  I placed them in the order I used them.  What a difference this made!  I still had some extras on the side of the tub like facial wash, another kind of body wash in different scent, razor cream, razor, and bath sponge.  Ok, so I wasn’t having to bend as much.  Then I thought, why not just get another one?  I saw one that had a shelf on top where I could put my facial cleanser.  So, what did I put in the other three dispensers?  An unscented body wash, another scent of body wash, and the last one body lotion for after the shower.  From there I put a hook up for my bath sponge and a hook for my razor.  From there I put a hook for my shower cap.

I still didn’t have a towel bar for my bath towel. I had lived here 10+ years and never put one up.  Why?  I WAS AFRAID I WOULDN’T PUT THE THING UP PERFECTLY!!!!!  How crazy is this?  Very!  The thing is there are many of us that have and are in this situation and then complain every time the towel ends up on the floor and now is dirty from getting stepped on.  Yup, that was me.
