New Use For Flylady Tools

Yesterday was so busy for me on the computer that I wasn’t happy with my flying.  The day started late to begin with.  Last night, Lily decided she was going to do some snake wrangling!  It was 1am the last time to let Lily go out to do her bathroom duties before we went to bed. She has snake wrangled ever since she was a puppy.  Not my choice of entertainment.  I am not fond of snakes at all and it was a pretty good size garter snake.  I tried to get her to come inside a few times by calling for her with no such luck.   About the third time I turned on the outside light and there in her mouth was a garter snake she was wrangling! This is the time when I wanted to just blink my eyes twice like on the old sitcom “I Dream Of Jeannie” and there wouldn’t be any snake wrangling going on.  Instead I would be tucked in for bed and Lily sleeping on the foot of the bed.

Fifteen minutes had passed.  I know this because I set my Flylady Timer.  I came up with the idea that I could use my Rubba Sweepa  to pick the snake up and put it over the fence so he could be on his way and I could be in bed.   The problem was everytime I got close enough with the Rubba Sweepa Lily would pick the snake up and run off with it!  I wasn’t crazy about any of this.  If I didn’t have such a fear of snakes I know I would have been successful.  My instant reaction to snakes is always screaming and now that I have no line bifocals the garter snakes really scare me.  They are striped and look really strange when you are wearing the bifocals.

So I set the Flylady Timer for another fifteen minutes.  During this time I decided might as well do some flying.  So I got the Rubba Sweepa and did some sweeping.  Maybe then, Lily would tire of the snake and it would just crawl away.

No such luck.  She was still snake wrangling!  That is when I got the idea to use my Rubba Sweepa and I would do some wrangling for myself!   As bad as I didn’t want to do this.  I wanted to be in bed sleeping more.  Off I go.  After few attempts with the rubba sweepa I just had to let go of the idea of getting to bed at a decent hour. That is because every time I got close enough to the snake, Lily would pick it up and run off with it!  I am just shaking my head.  I thought, “Am I going to have to fry up some bacon just to get her into the house?”  Bacon is the last resort.  When she gets a smell of that it is here I come!  The thing was my kitchen and sink were shining.  I already had that habit done. It was too late to do it all over again and I wasn’t waking up to a messy kitchen.

So, I waited setting the Flylady Timer for another 15 minutes and another 15 minutes.  It wasn’t until 3am that Lily finally scratched at the door to be let in.    When I went to the door, I turned on the light to see if the snake was in Lily’s mouth.  No way am I sleeping with a snake!  Either Lily tired of the snake or the snake got away, I was so very glad this was over and we could finally go to bed.

There were no kisses from me to Lily either last night.  No way did I want Lily’s snake breath kissing me however snake breath smells.  I guess this is one time my CPAP mask for my sleep apnea came in handy!  Once that mask goes on I wouldn’t have to worry about Lily giving me kisses and I could finally get some sleep!

  1. I would fry up some bacon and freeze it. Then you'd just have to defrost/reheat in the microwave one piece to entice her inside!
