Play While I FLY? Are You Serious?

What is so wonderful about Flylady is after one gets the basics down of realizing it truly is about creating habits that string into routines, we can let the play begin.  What?  Playing while FLYing?  Yes!!  You are probably thinking I am crazy that I have really been flywashed!  Yup, I have and am proud to be.

In the beginning it was hard work simply because of the way I was looking at things.   I have come to the conclusion many of us start there.  After all we are so overwhelmed and disgusted at our clutter, we begin searching for a method to change this all.  If we are lucky, we find Flylady and then our world opens up.  We have a great support system where we don’t have to do it alone anymore!  I formed a closed group called Marilyn’s Way.

Now, does this mean you have to use Flylady the way I have learned a way for the lessons to work for me to be in my group?  No.  Marilyn’s Way is simply having a place where like minded flysisters are and they are finding their own way to use Flylady lesson that work for them.  Yes, it will be lots of trial and error, but isn’t life this way?

A flysister that is in my group came up with a challenge.  It is called the “One Shelf, One Drawer Challenge.”  You see, I was on the hunt for my alergy eye drops and thought sure they were in this drawer.  Harvesting of soybeans has begun in the area and it is the finest dust there is.  I got a dose of it the other day when I was helping my brother move equipment from one field to another.

Here I am rummaging through this drawer when I thought about this challenge.  I have got all my basic routines done to the point of day, so let’s try it!  The pictures speak for themselves.

This drawer was stuffed with all kinds of things.  We all have these drawers.  I was on the hunt for eye drops when I decided to take on this challenge.

There was lots to declutter and everything is put away.  I would say include the put away and throw away and dusting, it took 15 minutes.  Did I find my eye drops? Yes!

The point is if we slow our brains down and learn to think of logical places to keep items we can get lucky at finding what we need.  Eye drop bottles are tiny.  The only way to look for something like that especially when it is packed with unnecessary things is do a “Declutter A Drawer Challenge.”  I couldn’t believe the things I was able to throw away.  How did this drawer get this way again?  It’s called life.  Everyone knows I have been spending my summer outside gardening so there has been a little bit of stuff and stash going on at my house.  Am I upset with this?  No.  I have been aware the entire summer and made my decision that for the summer I would keep my basic routines that I have working for me that keeps my home company ready.  Today, for some reason I had the time to take this challenge and it was for a purpose.  That was to find my eye drops.  They are found and I have a decluttered drawer where I can now put my remote control easily in the drawer and get it instead of it getting lost in the bedding!  This adventure took all but 15 minutes.  It could have taken so much longer if I had not made it a game with myself and that is how I have now learned to “Play While I FLY!”
