What A Great Night!!!!

Why am I putting this photo on my blog? It is because I have fibromyalgia and hypothyroidism.  Five years ago this wouldn’t have even been possible for me to attend the races because of high temperature, dust, and humidity.  In fact in 2008 I passed out at the races and they had to stop the races until the paramedics came and took me to the emergency room.

I was passing out a lot and couldn’t find out what was wrong with me.  One of my great doctors put me in touch with an endocrinologist and he found out I had hypothyroidism.  I would get the normal test from family doctor and it always came up normal.  This is very common for people who have Fibromyalgia.  The endocrinologist took several type of tests to find that I have hypothyroidism. It kept me a prisoner in my own home for years when combined with fibromyalgia.  I also have low sodium in my blood so just drinking water won’t do.  I have been able to attend the races and do gardening because my dietian recommended me to drink G2 low calorie Gatorade and by golly it is working!

I have also since found out I have severe sleep apnea and that is a big factor in fibromyalgia.  The moral of this story is Fibromyalgia is a VERY HIGH MAINTENANCE ILLNESS.  I learned many things about myself by journaling and finding Flylady has helped me tremendously.  I was doing a Daily Photo Mini Blog for Flylady and did it 436 consistent days in a row.  It wasn’t easy but I did it and gave me some confidence back when it comes to fibromyalgia.  If you want to see what I have been doing since then, I have a page Marilyn’s Way To Organization For Home And Garden   I have been gardening and it has been great for my soul.  Do I still hurt? Yes and get tired and I stay away from foods that make things worse but by taking a cocktail of medication with three doctors working together, I am able to enjoy my life.  Five years ago I couldn’t even go outside without getting sick.  So I guess that is why I wanted to share this picture.  I am so happy I was able to be part of my nephew’s celebration and that I won the 50/50 drawing.  I couldn’t  have done this without the combination of tools I use like Flylady and her community, My closed groups of Marilyn’s Way that are for different areas of our lives, a great team of doctors, a dog named Lily that makes me laugh everyday.  Even my family have come around and that is a miracle in itself!

Don’t ever give up!  I want a cure for Fibromyalgia as bad as the rest of you do.  I hope by the platforms of blogs and Facebook we will get attention and be taken seriously.  I think that is the hardest part of having fibromyalgia is to be taken seriously that we do have all these symptoms and pain is the worse.  When a person is in constant pain, a majority of the person’s brain is used up trying to stop the pain and therefore “Fibro Fog”  And when a person starts itching all the time, the brain goes in this mode when it can’t help the person comprehend what it is that the actual problem is.  For me it was Hypothyroidism which is so common with Fibromyalgia.

I want to end this on a happy note.  That is why I am sharing with you this picture of myself winning the 50/50 Drawing at the races and my nephew Jordan Foster winning his first feature win at Casino Speedway!

A side note:  Jordan also won the feature race at Dakota Fair Speedway the night before.  This has never happened to him before!  What a night!  And for everyone’s information, I am resting today and doing my bare basics to keep my home going thanks to Flylady and all the wonderful flysisters I have met because of this woman.

Keep FLYing!
~Marilyn
