What Is Keeping You From Your Weekly Home Blessing Hour?

Posted on Posted in Uncategorized
Today has been difficult doing my Weekly Home Blessing Hour.  I believe I know why.  One of the habits that I haven’t been consistent with is “Decluttering 15 Minutes A Day”.  I have been so excited about having a garden that this habit I have let slide.
So why was it hard to do the Weekly Home Blessing Hour today?  Because my laundry/porch/entrance didn’t get decluttered last week.   There were things brought into the house, but nothing going out.  Where I usually keep my garden pail in the summer months, the space is still filled with the electric snowblower.  My ladders are also taking up that space.  The ladders are a product of I will put them there for now syndrome.  It always catches up with you.  Because they are still there from the day my neighbor kids took down the Christmas lights off the house, I can’t get to my “Rubba Sweepa” and dust pan that is part of the WHBH.
Currently, my garden pail is in the path of my washer and dryer.  My laundry hamper that belongs in my bedroom is between the washer and dryer making it difficult to get to the utility sink. In order to wash a load of clothes I would have to move my garden pail from side to side as I wash the clothes and then move the pail in order to put the clothes in the dryer.
Because of all of this my bed isn’t made.  It wasn’t that I didn’t want to make my bed.  It is that today is the day I change my sheets and when they come off of the bed they are either washed right away or put in my hamper that is supposed to be in my bedroom closet which is still in my laundry/porch/entrance area.  Do you see where I am going with this?  I did not follow through with all of my habits therefore it disrupted my routine.  What are routines?  They are simply a group of habits formed together that don’t require much thinking.
Why is it so hard to do my WHBH this week?  Usually I enjoy doing it.  I just put on the CD Up Kind Of Day and away I go!  It is because somewhere along the line last week I skipped some habits that got me into the position I am in today.
My next question I must ask myself is: “What habits and routines can I do now in order to make my day tomorrow go better?  Should I say, “I will just start over tomorrow?”  Wrong answer.  I will be in the same position as today!  Not only that, added to the mix is a doctor’s appointment.
The correct answer is: “Declutter for 15 Minutes in my laundry/porch/entrance.  That means putting things back where they belong and make adjustments for the season.  I will add changing the sheets to my Before Bedtime Routine and then call it a day.  It wasn’t exactly how I wanted my day to go and some days simply are that way.  What I don’t want to do is let these type of days to multiply.
I am going to get my Flylady Timer, set it for 15 minutes and put my plan in action.  As the quote goes, “You Can Do Anything For 15 Minutes Except Whine.”  Off I go to do 15 minutes of flying and I am not going to  forget to say “TADA!!!!” when I have completed my 15 minutes of decluttering!
Keep Flying!

  1. Thank you. Many times we are too caught up in our head about all the reasons we don't have time and that is what zaps us of our energy. All we are asking ourselves is 15 minutes and if that seems too overwhelming, go for 7 in 2011! That will work too!
