Ya Gotta Love Grilling Season!

Posted on Posted in Uncategorized

It is a beautiful night here in South Dakota.  My latest project  relating to Flylady is planning my activities better.  Instead of running around in circles or every time I was outside weeding in the garden, I would think of some task that needed to be done.  No pen and paper in hand.  Just my weeding gloves.  Talk about not living in the here and now.  Well weeding can be a bit boring.

One of my tasks that I did write down was to get the extra propane tank filled before the tank that is hooked up runs out.  Not a problem.  Earlier in the week, I put the empty propane tank in my blazer for tomorrow’s Errand Day and checked it off my list.  It was in the Blazer ready to go.  I knew the one hooked up was getting low.  I just didn’t think I would run out!  I was grilling corn on the cob in the husk and it was time to turn it over and also put the pork chops on.  I opened the lid.  No flames!  The first thing out of my mouth was, “No! No!”  An inside voice screaming and then, “Why???”  I have planned my day so well!

I could still recover from this “minor” set back.  That is what I was telling myself.  I thought about a town that is only 15 minutes away.  Got the phone book and called. No answer.  Could not remember the name of the quick stop connected to it so I called my brother.  I asked “What is the name of the quick stop at Community Oil and can you trade out your propane tank there?  He says, “Yes, but only during the day.”  That wasn’t the answer I wanted to hear.  I thought I maybe I could still save myself.  I say, “No!”

His next response was classic!  Even more classic because it came from my brother.  He said, “That’s why you need to own two tanks so you never run out!”  I could hear that echoing in my mind!  I know you know what I mean!

I guess I will be taking two propane tanks on Errand Day tomorrow.  That should last me the grilling season and then some.  Will I ever be in this situation again?  I would love to say never and I have said never before.  I think it is time to change my answer!  Besides, according to one of my sources, it is “National Chocolate Day!”  Who wants to grill anyway?!
