Day 3 of the “Greatest Paper Clutter Eliminator Game has begun.  Where are you with this?  If you need some detailed information click on Flylady and it will take you there.

I hope you take this journey with me in October’s Habit Of Paper Clutter.  I will try to write something daily about my take on Paper Clutter and how I am finding a way to get it out the door with the dust bunnies.

Today is a low energy day for me.  If you read my blog about me getting a new water heater and the decision I made in preparation for it will explain my reason for low energy.

Now, does that mean why not, I can skip a day of this paper clutter?  Besides it is nothing like it used to be.  My answer to this question for myself as I have gotten to know myself well the past couple of years is NO.  Skipping one day for me when creating a new habit can lead to a couple of days that lead to a week and before I would know it, October would be over and I would be complaining about all this paper clutter.

This is why I decided to make it a game for myself and hope you will join me.  Everyday whether it is number of pieces of paper you get rid of or time you spend decluttering paper, I want you to tally it on your personal calendar.  This gets the habit going.  I also write on the top of the month calendar what this month’s habit is to be visually reminded and that is what works for me and many of you.

You know the phrase, “Out of Sight, Out of Mind?”  Paper Clutter loves to live in this part of the house.  That is until it is no longer out of sight and instead laying around everywhere.

Well, today in honor of “Anti Procrastination Day” and a very low energy level, I have just the thing for this Paper Clutter part of my game.  You may have one yourself that you will want to take on.  Mine is this………

This is the size of the box.
Notice the date.  It can be deceiving.
This check statement date is September 1993 and there are more in there older than that!

Just think the time I took to put them all in this box organized and then covered with a black plastic bag.  Yes, that is how much paper clutter I used to have.  I would put them in boxes or bags and label them and date them.  I still have a few bags where I labeled “Stuff off the table”  and then date it.  Crazy!  But that is how I started dealing with it.

So today I am going to rev up my paper shredder.  I have another option to burn in a burning barrel if I can get their permission to do so and that would make it go much faster.  In any case, the moral of this “Greatest Paper Clutter Eliminator Game” blog is that there will always be paper clutter to get rid of.  It is just like dishes and clothes and everything else.  It is part of our life whether we want it to be or not.  So find some paper clutter whether it is a piece or a box or spending a certain amount of time on it, use the “Do It Now” Principal and you will be lighter in that department of your life by the end of the day!

Keep Playing The Greatest Paper Clutter Eliminator Game and Keep FLYing!

  1. You've just reminded me of several similar boxes I have on shelves in our garage. They've been there for nearly three years and totally forgotten! Whoops!! (Out of sight, out of mind!!)
