Random Thoughts: Gardening and FLYing Marilyn’s Way

I just feel the need to write.  I have been going nonstop with my gardening and my FLYing is screaming “Hey! But what about me?”  This time of year in South Dakota deadlines getting the gardens in are approaching.  How do I know this?  By the number of “Hot Spots” I have in my house.  The basics routines I have learned to implement are not complaining.  They are happy that they are still getting my full attention.

It is my counters that are not liking the fact that there are gardening tools laying here and there.  And the packets of seeds.  The decision has been made where they will go.  It is just that it has been raining.  I told my mom I was going to just mud them in and she says NO.  She says she has never had any luck doing it.  That means the seed packets will remain on the counter.

Remember my experiment with the heated garden house seedlings wondering if they will work?  Well, they didn’t.  I talked to Mrs. Bloomquist today where I bought my plants for Memorial Day and for my vegetable garden.  I also got flowers to put in my pots.  Back to the heated garden house I found out the pellets were too old and one really needs a bright light and once they emerge some one can unplug the heated mat.  So, I learned something new today.

I still get on the internet and search for information on gardening only to confuse me.  I just want to have fun gardening. When it isn’t any fun anymore I won’t do it.  So, how did I get my change of attitude?  From all the lessons I have learned with Flylady and some of the things I was able to recall just by practicing Flylady.  This led me to my groups that I have on facebook and a page Marilyn’s Way To Organization For Home And Garden.  We have to find a way to have fun with things that are just a part of daily living.  Otherwise, we are going to be miserable.

In the midst of this, I also met my new doctor in which I requested a Vitamin D and B12 level check along with sugar.  Then the following Monday she set me up for a physical which included a pap exam, mammogram, consultation with the doctor that does colonoscopy which is set up the day after Memorial Day.  That one gallon jug with the medication in it that I must fill it up with water closer to the date so it is chilled is also on my counter.  I finish my Tuesday afternoon with an appointment with a Dietition to talk about LDL levels.

Yes, the stars sure lined up for me!  It is all these things that I can honestly say I was procrastinating on.  One day I get a call from my new doctor’s assistant that my old doctor referred me to.  He is now practicing at the hospital only.  There is a special name for what he does.  Actually when I say the stars lined up for me, could it also be that instead of trying to set this all up myself, I allowed the ones that it is their daily job to do?  Wow!

So how am I feeling about things right now?  Well, I did a 15 minute Pick Up Put Away and was amazed at what got put away.  Do I still have some “hot spots?”  Yes.  Will I do another 15 minute drill?  In the earlier days of Flylady I probably would have.  Today I am not.  Why?  Because these next 15 minutes are devoted to my Before Bedtime Routine.  Yes, waking up to a shiny sink with clothes laid out and a short list of tasks that I will do along with with my daily basics and my weekly habit of “Renewing My Spirit” is what is in store for me tomorrow.  Races are also held on Sunday nights where I watch my nephew and now my brother race.  I sure hope they don’t get rained out because a bit of fun is what I need to keep me FLYing!

Keep FLYing!
Marilyn

P.S.  Did I mention I also got a haircut?  Well I did.  It sure makes my FLYing easier.  And yes in case you are wondering, I am still getting dressed to shoes, hair and makeup everyday!
