My Sweet Red Bell Peppers and on left is regular.  Butternut Squash in the back and a purple head of cabbage .

If I am wondering why I am so tired today, the pictures following says it all.  It was forcasted for us to have a hard freeze and I was going to save as much as possible.  First I needed to pick all of the ripe tomatoes and whatever else.  It ended up to be peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, butternut squash, one zuchinni, one head of cabbage and then I dug up some carrots because I want to make a big batch of vegetable soup.

I did visit with my cousin a bit as she was mowing the church yard across the street.  Then back to work I went.  I decided to pull up the plants that were at the end of their life.  That way it won’t be such a big job later.  I wonder how I got this idea!  Of course!  Flylady  I have been using her lessons while I have been gardening all season long.  This is the second year I put it into practice and it looks like Fall clean up will be a breeze as long as I continue to do it 15 minutes at a time.  I look back at summer and cannot even begin to believe all that I got done FLYing my way through, 15 minutes at a time!  It is rather exciting to me when I think about it.  Before I hardly went outside in the summer which also made me Vitamin D deficient.  That is all in the past.

I pulled the plants up and put them in my wheel barrow where they will go in my compost.  Circle of Life.  Don’t you just love it?  I am really going to be aware of this when I am working in my house this winter.

Of course the days are shorter with light and that I don’t like.  I still had to cover plants and it was dark outside and 36F.  What is a gardener to do?  I used my blazer headlights on the subject at hand and it made it so much easier and quicker to do.

The last thing I did was bring the potted plants in the porch so no load of laundry today for me.  The plants are taking up residency for one more night.  Then they can go back outside again.

Yes, it is harder to work at night but sometimes you do and this is what this gardener had to do to save and extend her season.

Late this morning I took a walk around my property to see how things were.   Some things I couldn’t cover got damaged and some didn’t.  Pictures to follow.

I then made an executive decision.  I was going to leave the covers on one more night as it will be in the 30’s and to be honest with you, I am too tired to take them off for the day and then put them back on. The thought was too much for me!

Tonight my plants will be covered and tomorrow I will take all of the sheets and blankets off, fold them up and put in my big space bag.  I am sure I may have to use them again.  What is different this year I have a place to store them.  In a big plastice bag that slides under my bed!  Boy this decluttering using Flylady ways just keeps getting better and better!

Keep FLYing!

I still have some nice petunias and bogonia there.  Then my marigolds that surprised myself how much I have enjoyed them!
My climbing beans did alright.  I have a mixture of flowers that still have a chance to bloom.

My impatiences that still looked to good to allow to freeze.

My Prized Garden!  This one I can see out of my kitchen window every day and still want to enjoy it.

A Monarch I saw along the way.

As you can see, my Morning Glory took a big hit the night before when it got down to 39F

The Vegetable garden where I had to cover tomatoes and marigolds .

This what I all picked early evening.  Decided I didn’t want to chance it. The green tomatoes I left.
Are these not the strangest looking carrots.  They weren’t suppose to get long but look at these shapes! They do taste great.
